Maybe I’m crazy, but when I first saw the size and swing of New York Mets prospect Aderlin Rodriguez, Mike Stanton popped into my head. This isn’t to say they are equal prospects by any means as Stanton is stronger, more coordinated, and has better bat speed. But if Stanton projects to be a superstar in his early twenties, isn’t any prospect who strikes even the vaguest of similarities worth mentioning? I would think so.

While working on my piece ranking the top third base prospects in the “Sally”, I began wondering how much interest would a piece about five teenage third base prospects generate on the cusp of the World Series. Lately, I’ve been pondering the future of the site and how to take a small, South Atlantic League based site to a national prospect audience. As one prospect analysis told me, my site is a niche within a niche and there’s just not a broad audience for that. However, if prospect fans looked through the archives of my site, they would see 2010 was a fantastic year for players scouted on the site over the past couple of years on a national level. Let’s look at a few of those names.

After seeing Mike Stanton not put a ball in play (3 walks, 1 strikeout) a month earlier, I felt compelled to take a second look. While I can not [...]

If you have been catching my tweets the past few days, between watching bats procreate at the Jacksonville Zoo, I spent both Saturday and Sunday evening hoping to catch Logan Morrison, Mike Stanton, Matt Dominguez, Dayan Viciedo, and Jordan Danks in the Southern League playoffs. Game 3 was PPD Saturday due to three plus hours [...]

Saturday night I’ll be heading back to Jacksonville for game 3 of the Southern League playoffs between the Jacksonville Suns (Marlins) and Birmingham Barons (White Sox). Why not use Scouting the Sally as your Personal Scout? It will be my second look at Mike Stanton, Logan Morrison, and Matt Dominguez, and my first look at [...]
