2011 MLB Futures Game Scouting Reports
The 2011 Major League Baseball Futures Game Rosters have been released and Scouting the Sally has seen a baker’s dozen of players involved in the game. Here are the links to those reports in a single piece.
Scouting Report: Sebastian Valle, C, Philadelphia Phillies
On the way to the park to see Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Sebastian Valle, I knew I was in for something special when a scout I was speaking to kept asking me, “What did you think of Valle?” When I finally mentioned it was my first time seeing him, his response, “Oh, I’m not saying anything else. However, in two of those leagues, Valle was added by friends only after receiving a friendly tip from yours truly. So what gives? Do catchers on pace to hit 20+ home runs as a 19/20 year old in full season baseball grow on trees? Of course not! So why is Valle only considered a marginal own in deeper leagues?
Sally Stock Watch: 8/4/2010
Fresh off an overnight trip to Greenville to watch the Drive face the Lakewood Blueclaws, I’m looking down the barrel of about an hour and a half of video to sift through and four or five pages of player notes to turn into coherent reports. To start the writing juices flowing, I figured why not [...]
